MPCC major gifts campaign receives challenge grant from Peter Kiewit Foundation

The “Today’s Vision…Tomorrow’s Reality” major gifts campaign received a Challenge Grant of $250,000 from the Peter Kiewit Foundation to be used towards the Health Complex facility at North Platte Community College.

“This is first time the NPCC Foundation has received a gift from the Peter Kiewit Foundation,” said Terri Burchell, MPCC’s Director of Institutional Advancement and Today’s Vision Campaign Manager. “We are extremely grateful for the foundation’s generosity and are thankful to Lyn Wallin Zieqenbein, Executive Director, and to the Peter Kiewit Foundation Board for helping us make our vision for a new Health Complex at North Platte Community College a reality.”

According to Burchell, roughly $4 million in donations is needed by June 2010 in order to meet the Challenge Grant.

“People understand the impact of growing the community by expanding Mid-Plains Community College and building a Health Complex in North Platte. With their continued help and support, we are confident that we will be able to meet this challenge grant and ultimately raise the funds needed for the campaign,” she said.

The Peter Kiewit Foundation is a private, independent philanthropic trust created from the estate of the late Omahan, Peter Kiewit. It is one of the largest private foundations in Nebraska. The Peter Kiewit Foundation is not connected legally or administratively with the operating companies which also bear Mr. Kiewit’s name.
